Are you seeking a non-competitive studio where fun, fitness, and a love of dance are the top priority?

Youth Hip Hop is designed for youth age 13-17 who are seeking a dance program that balances a solid foundation in dance technique with the opportunity to express themselves creatively through movement and collaborative processes in a safe, welcoming environment. Our Youth Hip Hop program works on building both breakdancing skills (popping, locking, stalls and more) as well as both students and instructor choreography with additional focus on improvisation in the form of Cyphers.

All our classes are taught by highly trained instructors who have certified in JDance® (The foundational program for the JHop Curriculum) and have a solid foundation in both dance technique and best teaching practices. In Hip Hop, you will explore dance concepts, gain coordination, and increase strength and flexibility. This class is part of the Performance Program and will perform in Recital.

Each class includes: Warm up, strength and conditioning, and Hip Hop skill development and choreography.

New families joining our program will need to complete the Full-Year Placement Recommendation Form to receive a class placement prior to being able to register. You will be notified via email once your class placement has been added to your account.

Full-year Commitment

At J’Adore Dance we view our Youth dancers as part of our community. As a community, we expect families who enter our youth program to be ready to commit to a full year program and a special theatre recital (dates listed in Policy Handbook). Our theatre recital allows special friends and family members to view our dancers’ hard work and give your dancer the opportunity to perform on stage! If you are unsure if your family can make a full year commitment we highly recommend registering in one of our sessional kids programs.

Josh

Instructor

Josh Capulong entered the dance world at the age of 16 with recreational breakdancing. His life as a b-boy was short lived when the doctor told him that the constant strain on his wrists would lead to more serious health problems in the future. His intrigue to learn more about the hip hop culture did not subside but rather motivated him into discovering and learning new genres of the dance. He truly realized his passion for the art of hip-hop when he made his way to LA. There, he trained along side many world renowned dancers such as Luam, Kyle Hanagami, Lyle Beniga, Keone & Mariel Madrid, and many more. In 2009, he joined his first hip hop crew, Next Gen,now known as NXG Company. Not long after he would become a Co-Director for the Company and compete at an international level. Over the years Josh has been fortunate enough to share his craft of teaching in several places throughout Canada, Korea, Singapore, and Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles. As a dancer, Janet Jackson, Tsar B, Sean Kingston, Ace Hood, Fanny Pak, and Supreme Soul are just a few of the artists in the industry that Josh has performed alongside. Not only has Josh met many successes in his dance career, such as a 1st place finish at World of Dance Los Angeles, 1st place finish at Canadian Hip Hop Championships, 1st place finish at World of Dance Edmonton, 1st place finish at World of Dance Hawaii alongside NXG Company, 1st place finish Artist Emerge Megacrew Allstars, “Looking For Somebody – John Dough” music video, “Hooked - Lia Cole” music video, assistant choreographer for “We young - NCT Dream,” Lia Cole performance at “Immortal Pursuit” One championship Singapore, and Artist Emerge Professional Crew Runner Up alongside White Chocolate (which he would later join), he has also utilized his skill of dancing to give back to the community in a local level. He has performed for several events and benefit concerts such as “It looks like me” United way campaign kickoff, Energy (Los Angeles), Special Olympics, Coca Cola Presents WEMFest, Little Hearts Big Dreams, Stand Up For Love, Forever Young, A Friend in Need is Japan Indeed, Hip Hop for Hope and many more. Many of these benefit concerts were also a time for Josh to share his musical side as a part of local trio band ADD. His shared musical passion has lead him to journey to many places such as San Diego, Los Angeles, and Vancouver. Incorporating many aspects of his surroundings into his own, Josh’s new age style, emphasizing on intricacy and musicality, gives him a unique touch as a dancer and choreographer.
