Terrific Tykes (Independent movers 11-30 months)

The word tyke means “one who is determined”. If your little tyke is busy, on the move and determined to learn new things this is the class for you! Now that your little one is off and exploring the world independently, join us each week while we explore dance, music and movement in a safe nurturing environment.  Using the research and teachings of Anne Green Gilbert we will explore new dance and movement concepts each week that support your Tyke’s determination to explore, learn and grow physically, cognitively, and social-emotionally.

Dancing together with your child while exploring movement activities and practicing skills is not only lots of fun but very educational. Activities are taught that can be explored at home.

What to Wear:
Adults: comfortable, non-restrictive clothes, grippy socks or indoor running shoes
Children: dance or play clothes (leggings, t-shirts, etc.), grippy socks or indoor running shoes

Cinch Sacs/Prop Bags

As per AHS mandates, we are no longer allowed to have prop sharing in our classes. The use of props is integral to our programming. We have worked with our suppliers to bring in enough props to make individual student bags. Prop bags will come in their own J’Adore branded cinch sac labelled with your child's name and will include the items listed below. Prop bags will be available for purchase at the time of registration and will be waiting for your child on the first day of their class. Prop bags will be sold for $30+GST.

  • 2 jingle bells
  • 2 dancing scarves
  • 1 ribbon wand
  • 2 rhythm sticks
  • 1 bean bag
  • 2 egg shakers
  • Hand sanitizer

Registrations can be completed online or in person at the studio or over the phone (provided you already have an account with J'Adore Dance). Payment must be received at the time of registration.

Programs at J'Adore Dance are in high demand, and sell out with long wait lists. As such, any registrations cancelled before the first class are subject to a $25 + GST administrative fee. No refunds will be issued after the start date of the class, however, we will issue credit valid for 12 months from the start date of the canceled program if the registration is canceled before the third class of the session. No refunds or credit will be granted after the start of the third class other than for serious illness or injury with medical documentation provided. Cancellation requests must be received in writing (info@jadoredance.com) and can only be processed by management. Credits are non-transferable and non-refundable. Please note that classes may switch from in-studio to online formats at any point in a session as mandated by Alberta Health Services. By registering in a program at J’Adore Dance you are agreeing to participating in both in-studio and online class delivery. Refunds/Credit will not be given for changes to programming delivery.

Meg

Instructor

Meg grew up in a household steeped in dance and music. She started highland dancing at the age of 3 and competed until the age of 24. Bagpiping went hand-in-hand with her dance career, and from the age of 7 she lived, breathed, and worked for dance and music. Meg has taught music, dance, and music leadership training programs for 10 years to students in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Northwestern Ontario, and created and ran a music training curriculum to assist young instructors to acheive their goals of teaching by running a school of music under qualified music teachers.

More recently, she has run Marguerite Daun Dance in Winnipeg from 2014 to September of 2016 offering Intellidance® classes and adapting Intellidance® curriculum for inclusive dance education, specifically for children with Autism. With Deaf Culture and Language and Special Needs Education Assistant Certificates, Meg has worked with a variety of pre-school and school-aged children in preschool daycare, out of school care and school settings and has experience working with students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Autistic, and supporting students with Learning Disabilities, Behavioural Disabilities, Autism, Down Syndrome and a variety of special needs including medical needs. She has also worked as a Home Facilitator (PUF) with the Disability Services team for the Sturgeon Public School Division and is enjoying being back in the classroom as a PUF EA.  She is excited to be a part of the J'Adore team!
