Tips, tricks, and tools to help set your child up for success!

A workshop for Parents and Caregivers, join Erin Brese BSc, Masters of Science in Child Life Student as she dives into all things coping and mindfulness for children and teens.

Building on her strong foundation with a Bachelor of Science degree, masters education, and work in both the hospital and community setting, Erin has developed a deep understanding of the psychological, emotional, and developmental needs of children and families facing healthcare challenges. Her passion for supporting children during times of stress, trauma, and illness has driven her to pursue this specialized field with dedication and empathy.

In this workshop, Erin will guide us through a variety of child life strategies that are designed to empower children, families, and communities. She will share insights on how to create a supportive environment for children in healthcare, home, and community settings, as well as how to adapt these skills for broader community contexts.

Whether you're a parent, an educator, or a community leader, Erin’s approach is grounded in the belief that every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported — no matter what challenges they may face. She will provide practical tools and frameworks that you can apply directly to your work, whether you're engaging with children individually or in groups.

We’re excited to dive into this learning experience with Erin, and we hope you leave with new insights and strategies to support the children and families you serve. Please feel free to ask questions and engage in discussions throughout the session, as this is an interactive and collaborative space. Participants will be provided with a coping kit!

Erin B

Instructor

Erin Brese is a dancer from Edmonton, Alberta Canada. Erin took her first dance class when she was just 5 years old at Dance Unlimited. Every week she looked forward to slipping on her ballet shoes and getting her body moving! She continued to dance recreationally up until Junior High when she then decided to pursue dance at a competitive level at Edmonton Dance Factory. Erin was fortunate to partake in numerous dance competitions in Western Canada while studying jazz, ballet, lyrical, and musical theatre. Throughout this time Erin fell in love with the discipline of ballet and began to devote her time and focus to the practice of ballet. Erin auditioned for Dance Discovery’s competitive performance group at the age of 16 and successfully landed a spot in their ballet performance group. In her first year of University, she took ballroom dance classes which opened up a whole new area of interest!

Erin has recently returned from the sunny state of California where she completed her Masters of Science in Child Life as she works to become a Certified Child Life Specialist. Erin has been an active member of the Stollery Children's Hospital in the department of Patient and Family Centred Care. Erin holds experience volunteering at Children’s Hospital of Orange County in numerous programs; one being Disney’s Turtle Talk with Crush!

Erin recently became certified through the Mindful Living Institute with a certification in ‘Mindfulness and Movement for Children and Adolescents’.

When Erin isn't dancing, she loves to travel, go to Disneyland, spend time with her family and friends...furry friends too, and work on her health blog! Erin is very excited to be an instructor at J'Adore, as she enters her 6th season with the J'Adore Faculty. She is excited to continue to spread her love of dance while working with children.
