Urban Kidz™ 3-5 yr program is tailored to meet the developmental needs of our preschool dancers. At J'Adore Dance our sessional Urban Kidz™ programs for ages 3-13 have been expertly developed by artistic director Jenna Brenan (BEd, AFLCA, PPNF) in collaboration, Fit Hop founder Jessica Baudin-Griffin, Christopher "Zondaflex" Tyler, John "Comix" Barrella, and Kerry Koble (dance educators with many years of experience teaching dance programming to children of all ages and abilities). All our classes are taught by highly trained instructors who have certified in Urban Kidz™ and have a solid foundation in both dance technique and best teaching practices.
A concept-based approach, in which the students learn the elements and principles of dance through a variety of learning processes (perceiving, understanding, doing, creating, and valuing) is the foundation for all the programs at J’Adore dance. Lisa Malo-Smith discovered dance at the age of 3 when she began her first ballet class and has carried a love for performing ever since. She spent much of her childhood and teenage years experimenting with many instruments such as piano, guitar, drums and singing. She studied music with Le Centre de Développement Musicale where she had many opportunities for performing at events across Alberta as a French artist. With a strong sense of musicality and rhythm, she decided to pursue music and is now a professional performer currently studying vocal performance at MacEwan University. She is excited to be receiving her Diploma in Jazz and Contemporary Music in 2019. Additionally, Lisa has been Poi dancing since 2010 and performing at Festivals across Alberta with her Poi Dance Duo, Alien Freak Show. More recently she has further developed her passion for Hip-Hop through J’Adore Dance and is excited to continue doing so through their Internship Program.
