Youth Contemporary is designed for youth age 13-17 who are seeking a dance program that balances a solid foundation in dance technique with the opportunity to express themselves creatively through movement and collaborative processes in a safe, welcoming environment.
The Contemporary Program focuses on how ballet technique informs expression and increases facility in all genres of Dance. Dancers will explore a variety of dance genres including Contemporary, Lyrical, Modern and Jazz. Students will work with the instructor to create choreography that will be performed at the J'Adore Dance Spring recital.
Dance is more than a series of steps. Our program uses a holistic approach that provides our dancers with a brain compatible learning environment. Our conceptual approach to dance education ensures our students move with purpose on the dance floor and through life. Our goal is to shape each student into a Holistic Dancer who is a:
New families joining our program will need to complete the Full-Year Placement Recommendation Form to receive a class placement prior to being able to register. You will be notified via email once your class placement has been added to your account.
At J’Adore Dance we view our JYouth dancers as part of our community. As a community, we expect families who enter our JYouth program to be ready to commit to a full year program, including attending in-class sharings throughout the dance year (during regularly scheduled class time) and a special theatre recital (Dates listed in Policy Handbook). Our theatre recital allows special friends and family members to view our dancers’ hard work and give your dancer the opportunity to perform on stage!
JYouth Contemporary 1: For Dancers with 5+ years of experience and are 13-15 years of age
JYouth Contemporary 2: For Dancers ages 14-17 years of age
At J’Adore Dance we view our JHop Youth dancers as part of our community. As a community, we expect families who enter our JHop program to be ready to commit to a full year program, including attending in-class sharings throughout the dance year (during regularly scheduled class time) and a special theatre recital (dates listed in Policy Handbook). Our theatre recital allows special friends and family members to view our dancers’ hard work and give your dancer the opportunity to perform on stage! If you are unsure if your family can make a full year commitment we highly recommend registering in one of our sessional preschool or kids programs.
Cancellations received prior to August 1st of the current dance year will be charged a $50 plus GST cancellation fee. Cancellations received prior to September 16th of the current dance year will be charged the $120 administration fee + GST and a $50+ GST cancellation fee. Cancellations received prior to October 31st of the current dance year will be refunded one half of the total annual class fees (not including the administration fee). Cancellations received between November 1 and November 30th of the current dance year will receive studio credit for one half of the class cost (not including the administration fee). No refunds or credits will be issued for ANY cancellations received after November 30th of the current dance year. If you are unsure if your child is ready for a full year dance commitment, please consider one of our sessional preschool or kids programs.
Class switches will not be considered after the second week of full year programming. Class switches are subject to availability, teacher and administrative approval.

Bridget was introduced to dance in junior high when she began attending Victoria School of Visual and Performing Arts. She quickly fell in love and has continued to pursue dance as a career ever since. She has extensive knowledge in choreography and dance interpretation with a BFA in Contemporary Dance from Concordia University in Montreal. During her time at Concordia she was trained by a number of prominent dance professionals and worked with some of Canada’s most promising emerging choreographers. Since graduating she has moved back to Edmonton and has worked with For Body & Light, Mile Zero Dance, Peggy Baker, Ainsley Hillyard, and Sophia Wright. She completed the Internship program with J'Adore dance teaching the Creative Jazz Ballet curriculum and recently completed her Intellidance Certification. She is thrilled to be part of such a joyful and inclusive community for youth and is excited to continue sharing her love of dance with the J'Adore community.
